Mentor and Academic Peer Program (MAPs)

Offered by : St. Michael’s College

The Mentor and Academic Peer (MAP) Program provides St. Michael’s College Students with access to an informal and welcoming space for academic and personal skills development in community of engaged leaders who excel and support one another in their academic pursuits. The MAP program is composed of Mentors and Academic Peers.
Mentors provide weekly workshops and office hours which bring together St. Mike’s students at a range of stages and from a range of fields to explore topics such as time management, communication, study skills, and academic guest speakers. Mentors also support the Academic Peers of the program. Academic Peers are volunteer upper year students who provide one-on-one e-mentorship to first year St. Michael’s College students beginning in July to share experiences, support academic planning and social integration, and connect first years to other Mentors and other resources.

Connect / Reflect / Project

  • Connect with students at all stages of the undergraduate experience from a variety of programs. Learn from their experiences and share your own through e-mentorship and group workshops.
  • Explore academic, personal, professional and leadership opportunities and pathways.
  • Strive to be a Mentor and/or Academic Peer in future years to enhance the academic and social experience for you and others!

All SMC undergraduate students may attend Mentor weekly workshops and Office Hours. Academic Peers are available for all First Year students on a first-come first-served basis. All current SMC students are eligible to apply to be Mentors or Academic Peers for the 2015 – 2016 year of the program, beginning in January of 2015.
